Tsunami 3D Grid Tomography

3D grid tomography is the latest addition to the Tsunami Imaging Suite. The tomography module is designed to be an easy to use and accurate way of updating velocity models for depth migration. Using the INTViewer, the user picks the moveout of the depth gathers to describe whether the velocities need to be made faster or slower. The tomography module uses the existing travel time tables to construct the ray paths from the pick locations to the surface. These ray paths describe the area of the model that impact the user described moveout, and how the velocities need to be adjusted.

• Full solution is calculated in the depth domain, no time domain semblances are used
• Produces stable results even when velocities are in error by several percent
• User can hold water and salt velocities constant
• Solution is driven by gridded velocity model, no horizons are digitized
• User can solve the velocities top down, holding shallow velocities constant, while updating deeper   ones
• Gives feedback on which areas of the new model fit the picks best and poorest
• User can control the density of the inversion calculation
• Uses stack volume to automatically calculate the dip at the pick locations
• Accuracy and stability increases as the number of picks increases
• Maximum change in velocities can be controlled

Seismic Display Using the INTViewer by Interactive Network Technologies

Integrated with Tsunami is the INT Viewer to provide modern visualization capabilities. We distribute, support and test the INT Viewer which provides 2D/3D data display capabilities. Based on JAVA technology, the platform independent Viewer can be used in any networked environment. The Viewer can integrate the display of a wide variety of data including seismic, velocities, travel times, well-logs and seismic attributes. Data with different sampling increments can be displayed together on a single screen, and multiple screens of different displays can be synchronized. The user can also save complete sessions or templates of data display parameters.

Seismic Viewer

• Will display 2D sections or 3D cubes of seismic data.
• Can display a 2D arbitrary irregular line from a 3D cube of data.
• Displays seismic data with wiggle trace or variable density with adjustable color maps.
• Synchronize gather displays with stacks; zoom and panning can be synchronized
• Can display velocity data on top of seismic with adjustable transparency.
• CGM plot support
• Histograms
• Fast data access using an indexed file scheme, and asynchronous I/O
